Curb fat with the cool factor

June 7, 2023

If freezing away fat pockets in stubborn areas, like the tummy, love handles and upper arms, sounds a little too futuristic, think again. FDA-approved CoolSculpting continues its advancement as a popular cosmetic non-invasive fat removal procedure for good reason – it works.

Our fat cells aren’t created equal, and changes to diet and exercise are not enough to permanently rid the bulge and sculpt the bod. In particular, fat in areas like the thighs, stomach and hips has a higher density of alpha receptors which makes cells harder to shift.

However, because fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than surrounding tissues, freezing them does result in cells permanently dying off. CoolSculpting, with its special applicators designed for each area of the body, deliver precisely controlled – and safer – cooling to target fat cells beneath the skin. Once the cells are frozen, they crystallise and die, and are naturally eliminated from the body.

Complications arising from Coolsculpting procedures are minimal, but choosing a qualified cosmetic practitioner to administer any CoolSculpting procedure is paramount. If you place yourself in the hands of an untrained cosmetic practitioner, you risk more serious side effects, such as PAH – paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where fat in treated area expands and hardens into lumps. Although PAH is not typically a life-threatening condition, and can be treated with liposuction, best and safest results begin with a trusted professional.

Another cool advantage of CoolSculpting versus invasive surgical procedures, like liposuction, is time. With less hours spent undergoing a session due to CoolSculpting CoolAdvantage applicators’ efficiency, ease and increased comfort.

For example, abdomen freezing session may only take 45minutes – a lunch break – with no downtime need because it’s a non-surgical procedure, with minimal side effects.

However, a quick tummy fix isn’t what CoolSculpting provides however, and you may need up to six treatments, spread several months apart to ensure you achieve those body goals.

“Some patients begin to see results in as little as three weeks after their first treatment, however many experience the most dramatic changes after two months,” explains Adam Bialostocki, Bay Plastic Surgery’s cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon. “And the body continues to flush out fat cells up to four-to-six months post-treatment.”

If a contoured, sculpted body is on your bucket list for summer, now’s the time to lock in your CoolSculpting treatments, reach out to a trusted team of cosmetic experts.
