Mum’s the Word this Christmas

November 4, 2020

Festive madness ensues and it’s mum who largely takes the organising, wrapping, shopping and cooking reins – not Santa. So, tis the season to give back to mum – and what better gift than a makeover. Nowadays, the term ‘mummy makeover’ encompasses so much more than just one or two cosmetic procedures. In fact, a mummy makeover is no one-procedure-fits all term – which is why before any woman goes embarking on a body blitz, she should know the best steps forward to achieve her true wants and individual goals.

Breasts in focus . . .

Take breasts for example, are they elongated from pregnancy and breast feeding? Did they previously resemble round and perky ensembles in your youth or pre-children? If they’ve stretched, are sagging or the nipple area has become enlarged with a shift downwards, breast augmentation can restore shape, fullness and lift. Surgery may involve a breast lift, implants – or both! For those that want increased lift minus implants, breast auto augmentation which uses one’s own tissue to boost volume and fat grafting to naturally shape and position, has also proven a positive and popular option for many. And, with 3D Vectra imaging, it’s possible to see just what to expect before you undergo a procedure!

Meet you midway . . .

For those women whose pregnancy resulted in a separation of tummy muscles – or diastasis recti as it’s called – a tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) can repair the separation, and trim away lax skin, resulting in a flatter, sculpted tummy area. For those mums wanting to reduce fat in the mid-region without invasive surgery, non-invasive CoolSculpting can permanently rid those stubborn fat cells – think a lunchtime procedure for core areas like tummy, hips and upper thighs – to remove fat and gently contour and sculpt.

Face time . . .

And, let’s not forget facial rejuvenation – something many mums have topping the wish list! Fortunately, non-invasive appearance medicine treatments like Botox and dermal fillers both serve to refresh and rejuvenate – not transform the real you.

Regardless of any mummy makeover procedure, reaching out to a qualified and experience cosmetic and plastic surgeon is the most essential first step. Fortunately, here in New Zealand cosmetic and plastic surgeons with FRACs qualifications – like our very own Adam Bialostocki – promise both assured results and peace-of-mind.
