Remove the bags, reveal the eyes – cosmetic procedures in line of sight

September 12, 2022

Dreaded eye bags are common – and not just a result of sleepless nights, allergies, exhaustion and burning the candle at both ends. Genetic factors and age can all trigger their development. So how do they begin their descent downwards? The pockets of fat around the eyes – alongside the nose, centre lower lid and lateral – protrude over time and ‘puff’ out.

How to remedy this puffy look? Fortunately, there are both surgical and nonsurgical options:

Lower blepharoplasty – This surgical procedure removes and repositions the fat/skin beneath the eyes. Whilst there is more than one approach to perform, typically fat is removed from inside the lower lid so there is no external scarring.

Dermal fillers – Whilst not a permanent solution, can be injected into the hollows to minimise the appearance of bags and rejuvenate and harmonise the area.

Botox – Botox injected in the crow's feet will help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and tension around the eyes, although it is a temporary solution and won’t permanently remove bags.

Skin around the eyes is sensitive and easily damaged, so it is essential to reach out for the best advice and cosmetic expertise when seeking restoration – including topical skin care options. Speak to our cosmetic and plastic surgery team about an eye solution fitted to your individual goals.
